Municipal police officer Ariane Anali “N,” assigned to the Tourist Police unit of the Puerto Vallarta Citizen Security Commissariat, has been formally charged with the crime of enforced disappearance. This action stems from the investigation into the disappearance of a man in this tourist destination in March 2024.
The judicial ruling follows investigations conducted by the State Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Prosecutor’s Unit for Missing Persons. These investigations prompted a search operation last week at the Puerto Vallarta Citizen Security Commissariat facilities, involving personnel from the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office, the State Police, and the Secretariat of the Navy.
According to the investigation, the case concerns the disappearance of 33-year-old Filiberto Nolasco Arreola, who was last seen on March 9, 2024. The case file indicates that the victim was allegedly detained by municipal police officers but was never booked into the force’s holding cells; his whereabouts have remained unknown since that time.
Following investigative proceedings, Ariane Anali “N” was arrested and brought before a control judge, who ordered that she be formally charged with enforced disappearance.
The judge also imposed a precautionary measure of one year of mandatory pretrial detention and set a six-month deadline for the conclusion of the supplementary investigation, a period during which the Prosecutor’s Office will continue gathering evidence to clarify the case.
State authorities are keeping the investigation open, and further actions may follow as inquiries progress regarding the disappearance of Filiberto Nolasco Arreola and the alleged involvement of other public officials in the incident.
