The Mexican Employers’ Confederation (Coparmex) in Ensenada warned that conducting political campaigning outside the timeframes established by electoral law undermines the fairness of elections and erodes public trust in institutions. Therefore, it urged political parties and authorities to guarantee respect for the rules of the democratic process.
In an official statement, the president of the Ensenada Business Center, José Alfredo Salazar Juárez, pointed out that promoting candidates under various guises constitutes, in effect, premature or ongoing campaigning, creating unfair advantages for those seeking elected office.
He called on political parties to act responsibly and adhere to electoral law, maintaining that compliance with the law should not be subject to interpretations or mechanisms of deception.
He also called on electoral authorities to exercise their powers impartially, promptly, and firmly to prevent such conduct from becoming normalized or going unpunished.
The business leader also urged political parties to nominate, within the legal deadlines, candidates with integrity, competence, experience, and a commitment to public service, arguing that citizens deserve candidates who strengthen democratic representation and dignify public office.
Salazar Juárez further stated that votes must be cast freely, in an informed and reasoned manner, without pressure, coercion, or illegal propaganda that unduly influences voters’ decisions.
Finally, he reiterated Coparmex Ensenada’s commitment to legality, transparency, and the strengthening of institutions, noting that a robust democracy requires a level playing field, authorities who enforce the law, and parties that prioritize the public interest over electoral advantages.
