In the Gabriel Leyva neighborhood of Mazatlán, 60-year-old Blanca “N” was shot to death by two young-looking individuals riding a motorcycle; this latest attack brings the total number of women who have lost their lives violently this week to five.

Records from the State Attorney General’s Office indicate that these murders of women—including a 17-year-old named Luna Dayán “N”—have taken place in the municipalities of Culiacán, Mazatlán, and Navolato.

Regarding the most recent case, Blanca “N” was sitting outside her home on Álvarez Alley in the Gabriel Leyva neighborhood when two young individuals arrived on a motorcycle. They stopped in front of the house and, without a word, drew their weapons and shot her repeatedly.

The day before, 17-year-old Luna Dayán “N” was in her bedroom at her home in the Los Huertos neighborhood of Culiacán when she was shot by armed individuals who had violently forced their way into the house. She was taken to a hospital, where she died hours later.

A similar incident occurred in the Villa Juárez district of Navolato: 23-year-old Yajaira “N,” a resident of Ezequiel Valenzuela Alley, was killed inside her home by two armed individuals who broke in, attacked her, and then fled the scene.

Last Monday, Ruby “N” was murdered while sitting outside a flower shop on Álvaro Obregón Avenue in the Tierra Blanca neighborhood of Culiacán; her attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, managed to escape the scene. In the municipality of Mazatlán, the bodies of siblings Arlyn Angelica, 35, and Miguel Ángel “N”, 37—residents of Culiacán—were found; they had gone missing in the port city after traveling there to celebrate their birthdays.
