Around 90,000 fewer vehicles traveled daily on Bernardo Quintana Boulevard during the first few days of the Mexico City-Querétaro train construction, after motorists modified their routes and began using alternate roads.
The Querétaro Municipal Mobility Secretariat reported that before the federal intervention, traffic volume was approximately 150,000 vehicles per day, while the traffic operation reduced it by about 60 percent.
This reduction was attributed to the cooperation of the public, who heeded recommendations to avoid the area, plan their trips in advance, and use mobile apps to choose routes with less congestion.
The reduction has been especially noticeable in the southbound lanes, where the greatest impact from the railway bridge expansion work is concentrated.
The operation remains under constant evaluation, as traffic patterns may change as the construction progresses and work, business, and school activities intensify.
He reiterated the call to use as alternatives the federal highway 57, Constituyentes Avenue, Calzada de los Arcos, Universidad and Prolongación Corregidora, in addition to leaving at least 20 minutes before the usual time.
