With “Safe Stations” (Estaciones Seguras) located approximately every 50 kilometers, the Government of Tamaulipas has bolstered its support and surveillance operations on the state’s main highways to address the increased traffic flow during the current holiday period. This initiative was announced by the State Civil Protection Coordination in conjunction with the Tamaulipas Secretariat of Public Security.
The strategy involves the continuous operation of a network of stations distributed at strategic points across the state, providing basic mechanical assistance, tourist information, emergency services, and support to drivers facing issues during their journeys.
This deployment is complemented by constant patrols from the State Guard’s Highway Assistance units and “Green Angels” (Ángeles Verdes) personnel. These teams address mechanical breakdowns, accidents, and other incidents, aiming to reduce response times and enhance safety for those using the state highway network.
As a preventive measure, authorities advised vacationers to have their vehicles mechanically inspected before hitting the road—checking tire conditions and fluid levels (oil and water)—and to carry all necessary vehicle documentation to minimize the risk of incidents during the trip.
In the event of an emergency, motorists can request assistance by calling 911; calls are then routed to the nearest Safe Station to expedite the response.
Each of these stations is staffed by operational personnel and equipped with patrol vehicles and specialized gear to assist tourists, families, commercial drivers, agricultural producers, and other road users, thereby reinforcing the institutional presence on the routes with the heaviest traffic during the holiday season.
