Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda stated that the construction of the Interserrana Highway continues according to the established schedule and emphasized that this project represents one of the most important infrastructure developments for the connectivity and economic growth of Nuevo León.
Through his social media accounts, the governor stated that previous administrations left the construction of new highways unfinished for decades, including the Interserrana Highway, a project that, according to him, remained uncompleted for more than half a century.
“Previous governments did not build a single highway in 40 years, let alone the Interserrana Highway, which had been sitting in a drawer for 60 years.”
Samuel García stated that his administration decided to promote a highway infrastructure strategy to strengthen mobility and the competitiveness of Nuevo León, assuring that six new highways have already been developed during his administration.
He also highlighted that the Interserrana Highway has made significant progress and that construction is continuing “on time and according to plan,” especially on Section 2, considered the most technically complex segment because it will cross the Sierra Madre Oriental.
“We fully committed to this project. We have already built 6 NEW HIGHWAYS, and the Interserrana Highway is progressing on time and according to plan. Here I explain in detail what Section 2 will involve, the most complex part because it will cross the mountains. A HIGHWAY OF PRESIDENTIAL MAGNITUDE, worthy of Nuevo León.”
According to the governor, this section will require major engineering work due to the geographical conditions of the terrain and will include the construction of specialized infrastructure to ensure the safety and functionality of the highway.
The Interserrana Highway is part of the strategic projects promoted by the State Government to improve connectivity between the southern, citrus-producing, and metropolitan regions of Nuevo León, while also strengthening logistics for freight transportation and facilitating mobility for residents.
The project also aims to become an alternative route for heavy cargo traffic that currently travels on other state highways, reducing travel times and improving the competitiveness of the state’s industrial and commercial corridors.
With this project, the Government of Nuevo León seeks to consolidate a modern highway network capable of supporting the state’s economic growth and meeting the infrastructure demands generated by the arrival of new national and foreign investments.
Samuel García reiterated that the construction of the Interserrana Highway represents one of the flagship projects of his administration and expressed confidence that, once completed, it will become a driving force for economic development, regional connectivity, and the attraction of new opportunities for Nuevo León.
