Over the past few hours, multiple videos and photographs have been shared showing the collapse of the La Boquita pedestrian bridge in Manzanillo. The footage shows the large metal structure split in two and partially submerged in a body of water.

The recordings also capture numerous people gathering around the bridge in shock following the accident, while others assist individuals who were reportedly crossing the bridge when it collapsed.

Where and When Did the Accident Occur?

According to the Civil Protection Department of Manzanillo, Colima, the La Boquita pedestrian bridge collapsed on Saturday, July 26, 2026, at 6:10 p.m.

Following the incident, emergency personnel responded to the scene to assist anyone who might have been injured.

Two People Were Injured

After the collapse, Manzanillo authorities reported through their official social media channels that two people sustained injuries.

Officials stated that both individuals suffered minor injuries and were evaluated and treated at the scene by Civil Protection paramedics.

“Two people sustained minor injuries and were evaluated and treated at the scene by paramedics from the Civil Protection Department. No hospital transfer was required,” the official statement said.

Bridge Was Rebuilt in 2017

Local authorities reported that the pedestrian bridge had been rebuilt in 2017. However, they stated that the recent collapse resulted from a structural load calculation error dating back to its construction.

“Civil Protection personnel have secured the area while risk assessment operations continue. The public is urged not to approach the site or engage in recreational activities in the surrounding area,” the statement concluded.
