Security camera footage from a local business went viral on social media, showing the exact moment a pedestrian was the target of a violent attempted robbery at the intersection of Independencia and Pasteur streets.
The footage shows two men wearing face masks suddenly approaching the pedestrian as he walked through the area. Realizing the suspects’ intentions, the victim confronted them and a struggle ensued to prevent them from stealing his belongings.
Knife attack and medical intervention
During the struggle, one of the assailants pulled a knife from his clothing and stabbed the victim in the back, near his kidneys. Although the robbers failed to steal anything of value, the man collapsed on the sidewalk due to the severity of the wound.
Witnesses and nearby business owners called 911 for immediate assistance. Minutes later, paramedics arrived to provide pre-hospital care and rushed the injured man to a hospital in the capital, where his condition is reported as critical.
Although the perpetrators fled the scene before police arrived, their faces and clothing were captured on the establishment’s security cameras. This video evidence was turned over to authorities to aid in the identification and subsequent arrest of the assailants.
