Renowned attorney and content creator Yolanda Fuentes has sparked intense debate on social media after making controversial statements claiming that men in Mexico are completely unprotected under the current justice system.
During a recent appearance, the lawyer stated that although the Constitution guarantees equality, in practice men’s rights do not exist in the face of legislation designed exclusively to benefit women. She cited examples such as the Olimpia Law and regulations aimed at eliminating vicarious violence.
Fuentes went on to strongly criticize the way authorities apply what is known as gender perspective in the justice system, arguing that judges interpret the concept simply as an obligation to rule in favor of women.
Using an ironic tone, she questioned the broad criteria currently used to classify certain behaviors as violence, suggesting that everyday actions such as not paying attention, ignoring a conversation, or checking a cellphone are now considered forms of abuse.
