Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González stated that the state currently remains free of issues related to racketeering—specifically forced protection payments—and direct extortion.
In this context, the governor supported initiatives aimed at identifying the holders of telephone lines, noting the following:
National insecurity: The country’s crime landscape necessitates the search for new technological alternatives to curb extortion committed via telephone calls.
Control mechanisms: While it is necessary to know who is behind each number, any such measure must be implemented under constant oversight.
Public trust: He emphasized that these tools will only be effective if they foster a sense of certainty and peace of mind among the population.
