The company Axtel is collaborating on the program by installing telephone booths in the municipal government offices of 12 municipalities with high migration rates.
The governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal Anaya, announced the “Tamaulipas Te Conecta” program, which consists of installing telephone booths in 12 municipalities so that people can communicate free of charge with their family members in the United States and anywhere in Mexico.
The program is being carried out in coordination with Axtel and includes the installation of telephones in the municipal government offices of the municipalities with the largest migrant populations, with the goal of making communication between families easier.
The governor stated that the initiative will benefit more than 4,500 families in Tamaulipas who have relatives living in the United States or in other parts of Mexico, allowing them to stay in contact at no cost.
He also explained that the project is part of the initiatives led by the Digital Agency for Innovation and Technology, which will be upgraded to the level of a government secretariat to strengthen modernization programs.
Among these projects is the 070 “Tamaulipas Te Atiende” telephone service, which will provide citizens with guidance on various government procedures and public services.
Through this service, citizens will have easier access to state government agencies, while digital tools will improve the registration, tracking, and management of public requests.
Villarreal Anaya emphasized that expanding communication channels between the government and citizens helps bring public services closer to the people, remove barriers, and make public administration more efficient.
During the civic flag ceremony, the governor stated that Tamaulipas currently has a digital ecosystem composed of more than 70 technological systems and platforms, more than 130 institutional websites, and nearly 500 virtual servers that support more than 15,000 internal users while providing digital services to the public.
He also reported that 132 government procedures and services have been simplified by reducing requirements, response times, and administrative processes. In addition, the state has recorded nearly 1.5 million user interactions through these digital tools.
Finally, he reaffirmed that the Agency for Innovation and Digital Intelligence will be elevated to the rank of a government secretariat to continue promoting technological modernization and make government services more accessible to the public.
