A rare natural phenomenon has captured the attention of locals and visitors in Baja California Sur as a wide strip of sand has resurfaced directly beneath the iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas. The temporary emergence of the beach allows pedestrians to walk across the sandbar between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean.
Despite the scenic appeal, local civil protection authorities and port captaincies immediately prohibited maritime access and walking on the newly formed sandbar. Officials issued strict warnings due to dangerous sea conditions driven by a strong mar de fondo (high surf and swells), which create powerful undertows and hazardous waves around the landmark.
Lifeguards and municipal police have stepped up surveillance to prevent tourists and boat operators from violating the restriction. Authorities emphasized that while the natural spectacle is a striking sight, safeguarding human life and preventing accidents remain the absolute priority during rough sea conditions.
