Tamaulipas has registered a tourist influx exceeding 1.8 million visitors as of this Sunday, along with an economic impact of over 1.6 billion pesos, and the summer vacation period is not yet over, stated Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism for Tamaulipas.
“Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya’s strong commitment to security, connectivity, and public investment in strategic projects is translating into greater development for the region and its communities, paving the way for Mexico to position itself as the fifth largest tourist destination in the world,” he explained.
He noted the significant increase in visitors to the state’s tourist destinations, as evidenced by the 17.4 million visitors recorded by the end of 2015.
So far this holiday season, the state official indicated that the highest number of visitors has been recorded in Ciudad Madero and its Miramar beach, with over 887,000 visitors; followed by the port of Tampico, with its lagoons and iconic historic center, with over 436,000 visitors; and in third place, Nuevo Laredo with over 111,000 visitors.
Next is the municipality of Soto La Marina and its La Pesca beach, which is receiving an increasing number of visitors, with over 98,000. In fifth place is the port of Altamira with over 81,000 travelers, according to data from the State System for Tourist Influx.
Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez invited everyone to discover, enjoy, savor, and take away unique experiences in Tamaulipas’ tourist destinations. “We welcome you to Tamaulipas any time of year,” he concluded.
