The Federal Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) is making progress on the construction of the new bridge that aims to improve the movement of cargo trucks transporting goods to the Port of Veracruz.
VERACRUZ, VER. — Due to the progress of construction work on the Veracruz Port Access Road Distributor, there will be temporary changes to vehicle circulation on the Mexico-Veracruz Highway, according to information released by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) and TenarisTamsa.
According to the announcement, starting at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, traffic on the side lanes in both directions of the highway will be suspended in the section between the access to the Port Boulevard, at kilometer 13.5, and the area known as Gate 2.
As a temporary measure, vehicles will have to use the elevated bridge of the new road distributor, where only one lane will be available for both directions. In addition, the exit through Gate 2 will remain restricted.
“Notice to users of the federal highway MEX-140 Xalapa–Veracruz. This Thursday, starting at 9:00 a.m., traffic will operate exclusively through the viaduct of the Veracruz Port Access Distributor. The access at kilometer 13.5 and the side lane of Roadway B in the Veracruz–Xalapa direction will remain temporarily closed. All traffic will be directed through the viaduct to improve circulation and allow the continuation of the next stage of construction,” the official SICT statement said.
The information was confirmed by TenarisTamsa, which specified that personnel traveling in the Xalapa-Veracruz direction who usually enter through Gate 2 or head toward the CECO, FAVA, and RIDA areas must access through the new road distributor.
Afterward, they must return in front of Gate 1 and enter again through Gate 2. Those heading to these areas will also need to cross the platform parking area and exit through Gate 3, located at kilometer 13.5.
Meanwhile, those who usually leave through Gate 2 toward Veracruz will have to cross the platform parking area, exit through Gate 3, and make a return maneuver in Oluta to rejoin the highway.
During the following weeks, additional traffic adjustments may be implemented, including detours through the elevated bridge or side lanes, depending on the progress of the construction project.
Authorities confirmed that traffic in both directions of the highway will continue operating at all times.
Motorists are advised to take precautions and plan their routes in advance.
