In a coordinated operation in the municipality of Mulegé, authorities removed 11 illegally installed surveillance cameras. These devices were allegedly being used to illegally monitor the movements of security forces.
Personnel from the Mexican Navy, the State Police, and the Municipal Police were deployed in the municipal seat of Santa Rosalía to locate these devices, known as “parasitic cameras”, which have also been installed by criminal groups in other communities.
Authorities from the Security Roundtable of Baja California Sur stated that these actions are part of a strategy to dismantle surveillance systems operating outside the legal framework and to strengthen crime prevention and investigation efforts.
This operation focused on the northern area of Baja California Sur; however, similar actions have been carried out in previous months in the southern municipalities of Los Cabos and La Paz.
As part of operations aimed at dismantling criminal groups involved in drug sales, authorities also arrested six people—two women and four men between 18 and 28 years old—in Comondú and La Paz for their alleged involvement in health-related crimes.
