The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Durango reported today the arrest of a First Instance Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of the same state, who was allegedly handing over one million pesos in cash to a public official with the purpose of influencing the reclassification of several criminal cases under his supervision.
The arrest of the individual identified as Margarito “N” (Margarito Galaviz) was achieved following a series of coordinated actions among law enforcement agencies.
The arrest took place after a public official from the State Attorney General’s Office alerted authorities by telephone about an attempted bribe.
During the operation, authorities secured one million pesos allegedly intended for the illegal transaction. They also found a firearm inside the vehicle in which the judge was traveling.

The Durango Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reiterated its position of zero tolerance, urging citizens to safely and confidentially report any acts of corruption committed by public officials.
At the same time, the agency has a continuous professionalization and training program focused on public officials, commanders, and security forces, with the goal of strengthening an ethical and integrity-driven public service strictly committed to the rule of law.
