The Federal Government is preparing to release 300 million cubic meters of water from the Boquilla, Las Vírgenes, and El Granero dams.
They have already announced it; they are going to deliver the allocated water because the USMCA requires it.”
He recalled the conflict involving thousands of farmers over the opening of dams in Chihuahua to comply with the 1944 International Water Treaty, under which Mexico and the United States exchange water.
It is worth noting that last month, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer suggested that the USMCA review could become complicated if Mexico fails to cooperate on a range of issues, from the Water Treaty to border security.
