The Nuevo Laredo customs office reaffirmed its position as the most critical strategic hub for Mexico’s international trade by simultaneously leading the national customs system across three key indicators—revenue collection, customs declarations (pedimentos), and operations—during June 2026, according to the latest report from the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM).
In terms of revenue, Nuevo Laredo emerged as the top performer, collecting 17.147 billion pesos during the sixth month of the year. It surpassed major maritime customs offices such as Manzanillo (which recorded 16.295 billion pesos) and Veracruz (which reached 11.384 billion pesos).
Furthermore, within the group of border customs offices—which collectively collected 36.049 billion pesos—Nuevo Laredo was the primary driver. It led a group that, alongside Ciudad Juárez (4.3 billion pesos), Matamoros (4.091 billion pesos), Colombia (2.309 billion pesos), and Tijuana, accounted for 82.4% of the tax revenue generated in the country’s northern region.
OPERATIONS AND PROCESSING
At an operational level, the gap between Nuevo Laredo and other inspection points across the country widened significantly in June. Of the 1.91 million foreign trade operations processed nationwide, the Nuevo Laredo customs office alone handled 26%—totaling 502,486 operations. This placed it far ahead of its closest competitors, such as Ciudad Juárez (161,161), Tijuana (155,848), Reynosa (99,095), and Manzanillo (94,394). Similarly, regarding the processing of formal customs declarations, the Nuevo Laredo border crossing recorded 201,284 filings—a figure representing 22% of the 924,894 filings processed across Mexico—comfortably surpassing strategic hubs such as Manzanillo (72,609) and AIFA (66,876).
