Federal Forces Seize Four Properties in Praxedis, Durango, in Two Months

Over the past two months, federal forces have seized four properties in the town of Praxedis, in the municipality of Durango. During the most recent search, authorities found an arsenal, tactical equipment, and a stolen pickup truck, as part of the operations carried out following the clashes reported on June 3.

It was in this community where the first confrontation took place between alleged members of a criminal group and federal forces, leaving three people dead, including a member of the National Guard.

That same day, 15 people were arrested, while high-powered firearms, luxury vehicles, and a property located in the community were also seized. The town is approximately 10 minutes from the urban area of Durango City.

Following that operation, approximately 1,000 members of the Armed Forces arrived in the state capital. They launched security operations and carried out several searches both in the urban area and in rural communities throughout the municipality.

Arsenal Seized at Alleged Safe House

Since then, authorities have conducted at least four searches of homes in the town of Praxedis. The most recent took place over the weekend, when authorities located a property that was allegedly being used as a safe house.

To enter the property, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) executed a search warrant, allowing authorities to seize several pieces of evidence potentially related to criminal activities.

Inside the property, authorities found a high-powered firearm, approximately 6,000 rounds of ammunition for assault rifles, and three dozen magazines for long guns, which are considered weapons and equipment reserved for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces.

Authorities also seized bulletproof vests, radio communication equipment, and various tactical items. These materials were placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office to be incorporated into the corresponding investigation file.

During the operation, authorities also seized a gray 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor pickup truck, which had an active stolen-vehicle report.

The property remains under official security and surveillance while investigations continue to determine the identities of those responsible and establish whether the residence was being used as an operational center for an organized crime group.
