The back-to-school season is just around the corner, and if you are traveling by road, precautions are recommended because heavy traffic is being reported on several major routes, including the Mexico–Querétaro Highway, Córdoba–Veracruz Highway, and Cuernavaca–Acapulco Highway, this Thursday, August 20. There are also road blockades at several toll booths across the country.

This follows several road blockades and vehicle burnings in Michoacán on Wednesday, August 19, after an operation in which relatives of Heraclio Guerrero Martínez, better known as “El Tío Lako,” were arrested. He is identified as one of the leaders of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the head of the Los Guerreros criminal cell.
