Gold production in Durango increased by 2.2% in June 2026 compared with the same month in 2025, amid an 8.5% decline in production of this precious metal nationwide, with leading producing states such as Zacatecas recording a drop of more than half of the amount produced a year earlier.
With this, Durango remained the fifth-largest gold-producing state, with production of 593 kilograms during June of this year, behind Chihuahua, Guerrero, Zacatecas, and Sonora, which led gold production during the month with 2,074 kilograms, according to the Mining and Metallurgical Industry Statistics (EIMM).
Mining production declines in Mexico
The EIMM reported that mining and metallurgical production in Mexico (activities involving the extraction, processing, smelting, and refining of metallic and non-metallic minerals) fell overall by 10.6% in June 2026 compared with June 2025. The mineral most affected was zinc, which declined by 41.8% during that period, falling from 40,386 tons to 23,485 tons.

Meanwhile, Durango saw a slight increase of 0.7% in zinc production and remained the second-largest producer in the country, with 10,432 tons in a single month.
Regarding silver production, there was an 8.5% nationwide decline, while Durango experienced an 8.9% decrease during the period in question, falling from 76,478 kilograms to 69,646. Although Zacatecas remains the leading silver producer, its production fell by 20.6% in June.
Fluorite production in Coahuila
Meanwhile, the state of Coahuila increased its fluorite production by 13% year over year in June, reaching a total of 1,906 tons. However, the other fluorite-producing state, San Luis Potosí, generally maintained the same production level of approximately 46,168 tons during the month.
