In San Luis Potosí, the area that has experienced the highest number of power outages is undoubtedly the Huasteca region, according to state Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona.
The governor explained that the states of Hidalgo and Tamaulipas, as well as the entire Huasteca region, significantly exceed electricity capacity during periods of high temperatures. Under these conditions, and due to various circumstances, power lines begin to fail, creating the outages.
He said this is not a recent problem, noting that similar issues have occurred for more than 20 years. He argued that the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) needs to carry out a reengineering process in San Luis Potosí and in other states such as Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán, among others.
He considered that this is not a problem that occurs frequently in the metropolitan area, the Middle Region, or the Altiplano, but it is a recurring issue in the Huasteca region.
“We have already been talking with them. Delegate Elizondo is a very good delegate; whenever electricity has gone out in the Huasteca region, he has worked to restore it.”
The governor confirmed that the Federal Electricity Commission has four investment projects planned for San Luis Potosí. He suggested that a press conference would be useful so that CFE officials could explain in detail what has actually been carried out for the state.
He said officials should explain which new power lines will be replaced or installed and, above all, how many new transformers will be provided for San Luis Potosí.
