Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros inaugurated the exhibition “Amador Montes, Drawings, Printmaking, Sculpture, Painting and Immersive Experience” at the Tlaxcala Museum of Art, a collection that brings together 64 works by the renowned Oaxacan artist and will remain open to the public until November 22, 2026.
During the opening ceremony, Cuéllar Cisneros welcomed the artist and emphasized the importance of bringing an exhibition of this scale to Tlaxcala. She recognized Amador Montes’ career and expressed her appreciation for his decision to share his work with the people of the state.
The governor highlighted that the exhibition provides an opportunity for the people of Tlaxcala, as well as visitors from other states, to learn more closely about the work of an artist with more than 25 years of experience, whose creations have been exhibited at important national and international venues.
“Today, 64 works arrive in Tlaxcala that allow us to approach the creative universe of a Mexican artist,” the governor stated.
Cuéllar Cisneros also emphasized that the state government will continue promoting actions that give culture a greater presence in people’s daily lives.
“We want our cultural spaces to be alive, for families to be able to inhabit them and for new generations to find inspiration, knowledge and new possibilities for their own development,” she said.
An Exhibition Featuring 64 Works
The exhibition brings together 64 pieces representing different aspects of Amador Montes’ artistic production.
The collection includes drawings, printmaking, sculptures, paintings and an immersive experience, allowing visitors to approach the artist’s creative universe through different artistic formats.
The exhibition was made possible through an invitation personally extended by Governor Lorena Cuéllar to Amador Montes, as well as coordinated work between the Secretariat of Culture, the artist’s team and curator Irene Ferraz Vázquez.
Karen Álvarez Villeda, Secretary of Culture, recognized the governor’s continued support for artistic and cultural activities and emphasized that this policy has helped increase public participation in the state’s museums.
Álvarez Villeda reported that, from 2021 to the present, the state’s museum network has experienced an increase of more than 50% in the number of visitors.
She also highlighted a historic investment of more than 80 million pesos in artistic education during the same period.
A Universe of Imagination, Memory, Color and Life
Luz Magaly Cruces Arteaga, Director of Cultural Heritage at the Secretariat of Culture, invited the public to visit the exhibition and enjoy the artistic proposal.
She described Montes’ work as a universe filled with imagination, memory, color and life, encouraging people to experience the exhibition in person.
The exhibition combines different artistic disciplines, creating a varied presentation of the Oaxacan artist’s work rather than focusing on a single technique.
Visitors can encounter the artist’s approach through painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture, while the immersive experience provides an additional way to engage with the exhibition.
Amador Montes Expresses His Appreciation to Tlaxcala
During the inauguration, Amador Montes thanked Governor Lorena Cuéllar, cultural authorities and everyone involved in making the exhibition possible.
The artist also expressed his affection for Tlaxcala and his satisfaction at being able to present his work in the state.
“I only have to thank you for this opportunity to exhibit in this wonderful museum, in this wonderful city that I love very much,” Montes said.
He recognized the effort made by the Tlaxcala Museum of Art, its staff and everyone involved in preparing the exhibition.
Montes also expressed his hope that visitors would enjoy the collection, emphasizing that the exhibition was created with care and passion.
“I hope you like the exhibition; we made it with a lot of affection and with all our heart,” he said.
