Alleged criminal leader killed in Chihuahua

A violent confrontation in the Sierra of Chihuahua, in the municipality of Bocoyna, left a criminal leader dead and four people injured, including a minor.

The confrontation occurred Saturday night in San Juanito, municipality of Bocoyna, in the Sierra of Chihuahua.

According to a report issued by investigative officers, the incident occurred while they were carrying out intelligence operations on Fourth and Juárez streets in the downtown area of San Juanito, where an exchange of gunfire took place between several civilians and the officers.

Following the confrontation, a deceased male was found inside a vehicle. He was identified as Roy Iván M. D. and/or Iván Eduardo M., 33, known by the aliases “El 19” or “El Roy.” He had gunshot wounds to different parts of his body.

The individual was considered a generator of violence in the region and, according to unofficial reports, was allegedly affiliated with the New Juárez Cartel.

The State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) reported that the deceased was found holding an AR-15-style rifle, .223 caliber, with an illegible serial number and a magazine loaded with 21 rounds.

The deceased was inside a gray 2026 Dodge Ram with foreign license plates from the state of California, United States.

Inside the vehicle, authorities found four magazines for an AK-47-type firearm, as well as three ballistic vests, a ballistic helmet, and seven packages of marijuana weighing approximately 450 grams.

Two officers from the State Investigation Agency and two civilians were injured during the incident. One of the civilians was a 6-year-old minor identified by the initials A.S.T.R., who suffered injuries to the face and right shoulder. The other was an unidentified male who suffered a gunshot wound to his right hand.

All of the injured individuals were transported for medical treatment and are reported to be out of danger.

Everything seized at the scene was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, while personnel from the Forensic Services Department processed the scene and personnel from the Forensic Medical Service transported the deceased person’s body to the corresponding morgue.
