A woman suffered a goring to the face during the Huamantlada 2026 in Tlaxcala, just a few hours after a man died during the town’s bullfighting festivities after being gored.
Videos circulating on social media show the moment when the young woman attempted to evade the bull, which lifted her into the air and then threw and tossed her onto the ground, despite several men attempting to help her.
The woman managed to reach safety behind the barrier and then ran away from the arena. At that moment, she realized, after people around her pointed it out, that she had facial injuries and was bleeding.
“Ah, her face, the girl’s face, your face, your face, sweetheart,” another woman can be heard shouting among the crowd.
The victim has not been identified, although reports circulating on social media claim that she is a 24-year-old American woman who lives in Puebla.
Another video shows that the injured woman “challenged” the animal by shaking a shirt at it, while also celebrating her action. As she received assistance from people at the scene, another section of the crowd encouraged her by shouting “torera, torera.”
