Veracruz becomes a leading force in tourism by launching the Veracruz School of Tourism Services, which will make it possible to have specialized workers in the sector.

This Monday, classes began for those seeking to specialize in English, Mexican and Veracruz cuisine, food and beverages, hotel operations, customer service, tourism package design, digital promotion, and applied technology.

Under instructions from Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García, the Secretariat of Tourism (SECTUR) designed the curriculum based on the needs of service providers.

The School of Tourism Services has an Academic Council that includes representatives from the state’s seven tourism regions, business organizations, and associations from the hotel and service sectors.

Graduates are expected to be able to complete professional internships at tourism companies, as well as establish employment connections with specialized professionals.

Regarding this, Governor Rocío Nahle made it clear that although work is being carried out on tourism promotion in the state, it is necessary for this effort to go hand in hand with infrastructure and quality services.

“If we want to showcase Veracruz, we have to promote it, and if people are going to come, we have to have services, and the School comes to crown that effort.”

State authorities created a tourism training model that connects the School of Tourism Services with the needs of the sector in order to guarantee quality service for visitors.

In this regard, the head of the State Executive instructed the Secretariat of Tourism to guarantee the training process for service providers, but now this institution will ensure the graduation of specialists in various areas.

The start of classes at this school, with the first 128 students, adds to the state strategy, which includes promotion, infrastructure, tourist transportation, modernization of the WTC, restoration of the Historic Center, and the development of new tourism routes and products.

Finally, it should be remembered that Veracruz ranks fourth nationally in the number of hotel rooms, with 52,000 rooms, 360,000 employees in tourism-related activities, as well as 750 kilometers of coastline, 8 Magical Towns, and 7 tourism regions.
