Aguascalientes City Council Will Implement a Ban on Alcohol Sales on September 16

The Aguascalientes City Council will implement a ban on the sale of alcohol next September 16 as part of the celebrations marking the anniversary of the beginning of Mexico’s Independence.

The measure was published this Monday in the State Official Gazette and establishes a prohibition on the sale, distribution, and consumption of alcoholic beverages from 3:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., a period that applies to commercial, industrial, and service establishments in the municipality.

Enrique García López, secretary of the City Council and director general of Government, explained that the restriction seeks to ensure that the commemorative parade takes place without incidents.

“A ban on alcohol sales is expected, essentially from 3 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon on the 16th. This is intended to ensure that the parade takes place without incidents,” he stated.

The official indicated that establishments will be monitored to prevent violations, although he noted that regulated licenses do not allow operating hours beyond 3:00 a.m.

“In the event of noncompliance, well, the reality is that there are no regulated licenses that extend beyond 3 in the morning. Even so, we will be monitoring the situation very closely,” he stated.
