Aguascalientes is one of the five states in the country where more than half of the population feels safe. Here, 59% of the population perceives it that way. The percentage is higher in Coahuila (72.2%) and Yucatán (64.5%), making the state the third-best evaluated. The other two in the same situation are Baja California Sur (50.8%) and Querétaro (55.4%).
These are figures from the National Survey of Urban Public Safety (ENVIPE) that INEGI updated this Thursday, referring to the period from February to April of this year.
Specifically regarding perceptions of public safety and the performance of authorities, the lowest rates in terms of safety are found in the State of Mexico (10%), Morelos (11.3%), Tabasco (12.4%), Guanajuato (14.1%), and Zacatecas (16.7%).
To those mentioned above, it is worth adding two other states that border Aguascalientes: Jalisco (21.1%) and San Luis Potosí (35.5%).
Victimization rate declines in 2025 compared with 2024
Another figure provided by the INEGI report concerns “victimization” in 2025 compared with 2024, referring to the rate of crimes and victims per 100,000 inhabitants.
The crime rate decreased by 6.5% in Aguascalientes, from 33,960 to 31,765. This was a more pronounced contraction than the national rate (-1.4%).
In the states closest to Aguascalientes, the annual variation in 2025 compared with 2024 was as follows. The figure in parentheses corresponds to the cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2025.

The crime victim rate per 100,000 inhabitants also declined in Aguascalientes in 2025 on an annual basis. It decreased by 15.7%, with the incidence falling from 29,473 to 24,846. Nationwide, there was a 2.7% decrease.
