With the aim of generating greater visitor exchange and strengthening tourism marketing between both destinations, the governments of Aguascalientes and Puebla are strengthening their collaboration through an agenda that brings together authorities, business owners, travel agencies, tour operators, and representatives of the sector.

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of the State of Aguascalientes, Mauricio González López, is leading a delegation carrying out promotional activities, networking meetings, and a familiarization trip —Fam Trip— in Puebla, with the purpose of learning firsthand about its tourism offerings and generating opportunities to promote and market both states.

One of the main allies of this strategy is connectivity. Currently, Volaris operates direct flights between Aguascalientes and Puebla on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, facilitating travel between the two states and opening new possibilities to encourage leisure, business, convention, and short-stay trips.

“We want this alliance to translate into visitors. We have to take advantage of the connectivity that exists today to better market our destinations, bring sector business owners closer together, and create products that make it possible to bring tourists from Aguascalientes to Puebla and bring people from Puebla to our state. The objective is to work on tourism jointly and turn this relationship into results for both states,” said González López.

As part of this agenda, Aguascalientes is presenting some of its main tourism products, including the Grape Festival, which will take place from September 11 to 13; the Wine Route, available throughout the year; and the Festival Cultural de Calaveras, from October 30 to November 8.

These offerings are complemented by its gastronomy, nature, culture, and its four Pueblos Mágicos, as well as different experiences that make it possible to maintain tourism activity throughout the year.

The collaboration will also allow Puebla’s tourism offerings to be brought closer to the Aguascalientes market. Puebla is one of the destinations with the greatest historical and cultural wealth in the country and is recognized for its gastronomy, heritage, nature, community tourism, and its 12 Pueblos Mágicos, in addition to experiences that bring together producers, artisans, traditional cooks, and tourism service providers.

In terms of meetings tourism, the Director General of the Aguascalientes Convention and Visitors Bureau, Verónica González López, highlighted that this partnership will open new opportunities to attract congresses, conventions, business meetings, and regional and national events.

“Aguascalientes has a great deal to offer meetings tourism. We have first-rate infrastructure, air and land connectivity, hotel capacity, specialized services, and conditions of stability and social peace that allow us to host major events. We want organizers, associations, and business owners to find in our state an accessible, competitive venue that is prepared to serve them,” she stated.

For his part, Carlos Márquez Pérez, Undersecretary of Tourism Development of the State of Puebla, who attended on behalf of Carla López-Malo Villalón, Secretary of Tourism Development of the Government of the State of Puebla, highlighted the importance of developing strategies that bring the offerings of both states closer together and strengthen the participation of service providers in tourism marketing.

“Connectivity gives us the opportunity to build a closer relationship between our destinations. Puebla and Aguascalientes have different identities and experiences that can complement each other; the challenge is to bring them closer to travelers, generate exchange, and ensure that this collaboration also benefits those who make up the tourism value chain,” he said.

The Aguascalientes delegation is made up of representatives of the State Convention and Visitors Bureau, tour operators, the Aguascalientes Association of Hotels and Motels, CANACO Servytur Aguascalientes, AMAV Aguascalientes, and ASITUR, who are participating in meetings with their counterparts to establish business relationships and new opportunities for collaboration.

Also present at the press conference were Michelle Talavera Herrera, Executive Director of Conventions and Parks of the State of Puebla; Jaime Oropeza Casas, Secretary of Economy and Tourism of the Municipality of Puebla; Maricela de los Dolores Acosta Herrera, president of CANACO Servytur Aguascalientes; Juan Carlos Rincón Luis, Director of Promotion and Public Relations; Jorge Alberto Martínez Medrano, president of AMAV Aguascalientes; and Gregory Camacho Wardle, from the National Tourism Business Council (CNET), Puebla Chapter.
