A Control Judge ordered Omar Luis “N”, a Cuban national, to stand trial for his alleged involvement in the crime of aggravated assault against a receptionist in Cancún, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported.
The defendant will remain in preventive detention for two years or for the duration of the judicial proceedings, while investigations related to the case continue.
He allegedly assaulted a receptionist at a hotel
According to the initial investigation, the incident occurred on August 29, at a hotel located on Sunyaxchen Avenue, where the victim, whose identity has been withheld, worked at the reception desk.
The Attorney General’s Office stated that Omar Luis “N” allegedly approached the front desk to inform the employee about the alleged theft of various belongings from his room. In response, the receptionist asked him to wait for a moment.
However, the man allegedly crossed the reception desk and pulled a bladed weapon from one of his pockets, which he allegedly used to attack the employee.
Victim suffered injuries to her neck and chest
According to the investigation, the victim suffered cuts to her neck and chest, injuries that caused significant bleeding. After the assault, the woman ran out of the establishment to seek help and was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Following the complaint, Investigative Police officers carried out the corresponding procedures and executed an arrest warrant against Omar Luis “N”.
After reviewing the evidence presented by the State Attorney General’s Office, the Control Judge ordered him to stand trial for his alleged involvement in acts that could constitute the crime of aggravated assault.
As a precautionary measure, the judicial authority imposed preventive detention for a period of two years or for the duration of the judicial proceedings.
