Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo prepares to participate in the International Tourism Fair of Madrid

The executive director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, (OCVIZ), Pedro Castelán Reyna, announced that for the first three months of this 2024, “we have a very positive tourism promotion agenda, we are very busy, we are going in a couple of weeks to participate in the first international fair, in the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, Spain, the Fitur, which is the most important fair in the world”.

Castelán Reyna added that after the Fitur, “there are several fairs both nationally and internationally, we are changing the agenda a little bit this year and reinforcing the Canadian market issue”.

“Traditionally we go to Canada to do promotion in the second half of the year and this year we are going to start in the first quarter reinforcing because we still have the flights until April, we are going to be in Vancouver at the end of February, beginning of March, still supporting the flight issue and this will be the start of the promotion of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo in Canada”.

He added, “we have several caravans planned for the whole year in the United States, in Canada, in the different cities of Mexico and well, I hope that just like this year 2023 that just ended, positive results will be given in tourism matters, in occupancy, in economic spill, in generation of more events”.

He anticipated that, “we are going to bet a lot also on the issue of congresses and conventions that already paints good for 2024 to be a year of consolidation of the tourism of meetings and there we will also be allocating part of the actions, part of the strategy of tourism promotion of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo”.

Pedro Castelán asserted that all these actions will be reflected with more tourists in this beach place for the holiday season of Easter and Easter Week, “without a doubt, obviously they are actions that we even did at the end of last year reinforcing what will be 2024 and well, it will have to be reflected, as you mention, in the holiday period of Easter”.

“But let’s remember that today practically and I said it a moment ago, the season of American and Canadian market already goes from late October to April, which gives us practically five, almost six months of market of American and Canadian tourism that fortunately are arriving the flights with very good occupancies”.

He said that on Saturday six, “we received a new flight from Chicago, Illinois, with Alaska Airlines and well, we will have to reinforce these flights, but part of the promotion strategy is to generate new flights both national and international for Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo”, he pointed out.
