Rafael Padilla Díaz, head of the Internal Control Body of the City Council, calls on citizens to report abuses of authority

Mazatlán, Sin.– After the LGBTIQ+ community demanded the dismissal of the head of the Municipal Women’s Institute, the Internal Control Body (OIC) promised to expedite the procedure and issue a ruling within three weeks.
Rafael Padilla Díaz, head of the OIC, who led a meeting with those who demonstrated against Emma Rodríguez Choreño, said that they are working on this case as the regulations allow them, and they cannot dismiss the official, as they are demanding, without analyzing the situation.
“We are working as the regulations allow us. There are times when we cannot give the immediate solution as they want, because if they are talking about a public servant’s fault, then let them give us a chance to analyze it. Remember that no one is guilty until proven otherwise.”
The official commented that on Saturday, May 25, when the controversy between the head of Immujer and members of the LGBT community occurred, Mayor Edgar González Zatarain asked him to take note of the case, so an investigation file was opened.
He pointed out that there are at least three accusations by citizens against officials for abuse of authority in the Internal Control Body, so he considered that there is no culture of reporting and therefore some cases may go unpunished.
“Let the media help us so that citizens report, but that they report in a reliable way, so that really those elements that they give us in the report help us to sanction bad public servants, those who do not do their job well or those who stop doing it.”
