A PRI party member was arrested by elements of the Secretariat of Protection and Citizen Security and taken to the State Attorney General’s Office for the alleged crime of vandalism. This occurred after the individual painted the phrase “Fuera Alito, don Perpetuo” (Out with Alito, Don Perpetuo) on the building of the PRI State Committee.

The unidentified young man was participating in a rally organized by two PRI-affiliated organizations at the party’s state headquarters. They were demanding the resignation of Moreno Cárdenas from the national leadership due to the significant harm he has caused and allegations of corruption against Alito. Alito is currently under investigation for allegedly diverting nearly 4 billion pesos during his time as governor.

José Adam Castillo Dzib, leader of the “Resurgimiento Pedro Sáinz de Baranda” group, which has been affiliated with the PRI for over 30 years, accused Moreno Cárdenas of being responsible for the party’s defeat in the Campeche gubernatorial election. Moreno Cárdenas had supported his nephew, Cristhian Castro Bello, as a candidate despite having better-qualified individuals available.

Moreno Cárdenas’ nepotism became evident once again when he included his nephew Castro Bello on the list of candidates for federal deputies without any merit. The same list also featured Adriana Rejón Lara, the state president of the PRI, who assumed her position without a significant track record and will become a federal legislator through political appointment. Additionally, Pablo Angulo, Alito’s right-hand man in the national PRI leadership, will become a senator through proportional representation.

“We demand the resignation of Don Perpetuo Alito Moreno Cárdenas. His term as leader has already ended, yet he seeks to manipulate the party’s statutes to be reelected for up to two more terms. Despite being the leader who has suffered the most defeats, he has taken the PRI from first place to fourth,” stated Rubén Cab Chablé, leader of the PRI-affiliated organization “Movimiento Indígena Maya.”

During the rally, a young member of one of the PRI groups used black paint and a brush to write the phrase “Fuera Alito, don Perpetuo” (Out with Alito, Don Perpetuo). The state PRI leadership reported this act of vandalism to emergency services (911). Shortly afterward, a van and two patrol cars arrived at the party headquarters, surrounded the offender, handcuffed him, and, after a discussion with the protesters, took him to the prosecutor’s office.

Adriana Rejón Lara, the state PRI leader, stated in an interview that they will press charges against the person who defaced the building. She emphasized that such acts of vandalism should not be tolerated because the party respects the rule of law.
