They are analyzing the possibility of adding more runs on the Tramo 2 route, which passes through several municipalities in Campeche. Official mobility data for the San Francisco Campeche Tren Maya station will be released by the end of August. According to Mauricio Arceo Piña, the head of the Campeche State Tourism Secretariat, there is strong demand from both national and international tourists.
Additionally, the project authorities are evaluating the expansion of services throughout the entire Campeche circuit. This includes Tramo 2, which is already operational and connects municipalities such as Candelaria, Escárcega, Champotón, Campeche, Tenabo, Calkiní, and Hecelchakán. The recent opening of the southern section of the railway line in the state has prompted this consideration.
The topic gains prominence alongside the announcement of new Tren Maya runs in Campeche during the holiday season. Six additional weekly connections have been introduced: three heading to Mérida in Yucatán and three to Palenque in Chiapas. These complement the existing three daily services.
As the interview continues, the plan is to expand station frequencies. By the end of the month, work is expected to begin in the southern zone, with all stations along the circuit ready within a month and a half.
