Next Sunday, September 8, the “Cruce Bahía Miramar 2024”, an open water swimming competition, will be held in Guaymas.

Héctor Antonio Zaragoza Ruiz, coordinator of the event, said that it will take place from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and will offer a unique experience to amateur swimmers and also to professionals.

“Bahía Miramar is a bay that looks like a pool, there is not much sand outside but inside you can walk up to 50 meters quietly, at the event this year we will have a dedication to the promoter León León Santoyo, who passed away this year and was one of the promoters of swimming in Guaymas,” he said.

The modality will be 5, 2 and 1 kilometers, in addition to 300 meters, Zaragoza Ruiz clarified and the categories range from 8 years old to 70 and older.

“The distance of 5 kilometers is semi-Olympic and an attraction for swimmers, especially from southern Mexico such as Guerrero and Quintana Roo,” he said.

“It is literally crossing the bay of Miramar, which measures around 2 kilometers. Those who completely cross the bay leave from Las Perlas del Mar de Cortés, we start at 6:30 in the morning and it is a very emotional moment,” he said.

REGISTRATIONS

The sports promoter and hotel businessman specified that the cost of registration is 480 pesos, a very economical price with access to a t-shirt, swimming cap, medal and the experience of participating in the competition.

“This year we have an emblematic shirt trying to represent the sunset of Guaymas-San Carlos,” he commented.
