The Social Dining Rooms for Wellbeing program in Mexico City (CDMX) allows residents and passers-by to have access to nutritious food at a symbolic cost of only 11 pesos or even for free.

This effort seeks to guarantee adequate food for all, especially in marginalized areas, through different types of dining rooms that adapt to the diverse needs of the population.

How many Social Dining Rooms for Wellbeing are there in CDMX?

To meet its objective of food access, the program has various types of dining rooms, among which are the Community Dining Rooms, where for only 11 pesos, they offer complete and balanced meals.

These are managed by groups of neighbors who promote accessible food. There are 415 Community Dining Rooms in the 16 municipalities of CDMX.

There are also Public Dining Rooms where food is free and accessible to anyone. Users must register at the dining room by filling out a membership card.

They are open from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or until the day’s rations are finished. Currently, there are 32 Public Dining Halls in the city.

The Consolidated Dining Halls are established in various areas of CDMX and have permanent facilities. On the other hand, the Come-Móviles are mobile units that move near hospitals to offer food to patients’ relatives. There are 12 Come-Móviles in circulation.

CDMX also has Emergency Dining Halls that are installed in emergency situations to ensure that those who are in critical condition are not left without access to food.

In the Community Dining Halls, you can enjoy a balanced meal for only 11 pesos. The requirements to access these dining halls are simple: you only have to register by providing your name, sex, age and signature.

This modality allows more people to have access to affordable and nutritious food, managed by neighbors committed to their community.
