The largest Christmas tree in Mexico lights up the Cerrito de San Cristóbal

For more than 15 years, the months of December have been illuminated with thousands of lights of different colors that adorn the tallest Christmas Tree in Mexico, installed on the Cerrito de San Cristóbal de las Casas. This iconic tree will once again be the center of attention during the Christmas and New Year 2025 festivities, receiving thousands of visitors throughout December and January. This Sunday night, the Monumental Tree was officially lit, marking the beginning of the celebrations, with the presence of more than a thousand people who, despite the cold, came together to enjoy this spectacular event.

Every year, the Monumental Christmas Tree, located on the Cerrito de San Cristóbal, is installed with the aim of offering citizens and visitors a unique experience. The lighting of the tree took place after 7 p.m., by local authorities, who were accompanied by thousands of people, including residents and tourists.

This Monumental Tree is more than 55 meters high and is adorned with 2,500 lights of different colors, each of 10 watts. With its imposing size, it is the largest and tallest in the entire Mexican Republic. During the next few weeks, it is expected to be visited by thousands of people, both from the local population and national and international tourists. The authorities have assured that the event is carried out with total security, since there is a police presence on site to guarantee the tranquility of the attendees.

Those in charge of installing the tree assure that there is no risk of fire or electric shocks that could endanger visitors. In addition, the Fire Department and Civil Protection carry out constant rounds to monitor the state of the tree and the security of the area. The authorities have also highlighted that the Christmas Tree is under surveillance 24 hours a day by various security forces, which allows citizens to enjoy this spectacle with complete confidence.
