Royal Caribbean International, one of the world’s leading cruise lines, unveiled its most ambitious project to date on land this week in New York: Perfect Day Mexico, a new private destination located in Mahahual, Quintana Roo, scheduled to open in the fall of 2027.

This development will become the cornerstone of the company’s portfolio of exclusive destinations, expanding the successful formula of Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas. The new resort, spanning more than 80 hectares on Mexico’s Caribbean coast, will offer a combination of water attractions, beaches, culinary experiences, and local culture.

Its main attractions include the Loco Waterpark, which will include more than 30 slides spread across five towers, including Jaguar’s Peak, the tallest slide tower in North and South America. It will also feature the world’s longest river float, estimated to last almost an hour, and the world’s first sombrero slide, inspired by the traditional Mexican hat.

The design, flavors, and ambiance of this “crown jewel” of the cruise line will incorporate locally inspired elements, offering visitors an authentic immersion in the region’s culture.

MODERN AND SUSTAINABLE DESTINATION.

The vacation brand’s growing portfolio of exclusive destinations will offer more options for cruisers to experience the best of Royal Caribbean’s newest ships, along with experiences off the coasts of Mexico, the Bahamas, and the South Pacific.

Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty stated that the cruise line is committed to offering “innovative experiences that create unforgettable memories for travelers and value for the communities they visit.”

The project not only focuses on the construction of the theme park, but also includes a joint effort with the government and the local community to develop a modern and sustainable destination.

The development is aligned with Royal Caribbean Group’s SEA the Future commitment, which seeks to offer the best vacation experiences responsibly, caring for the planet, empowering communities, and promoting innovation.

Perfect Day Mexico and the Royal Beach Club Cozumel, another project under development by the company, are estimated to generate approximately 3,000 jobs, both during the construction and operational phases. This project is expected to drive tourism growth in Mexico, with the destination expected to attract double the number of visitors to Costa Maya by 2027.

The cruise line anticipates that by 2027, 90% of its Caribbean cruise guests will visit Perfect Day at CocoCay or Perfect Day Mexico.

“The new Perfect Day Mexico is larger and more ambitious than any other experience we have created to date. We are confident it will become the ideal vacation destination for families,” said Michael Bayley, president of Royal Caribbean International.

Bayley emphasized that today’s traveler is looking for much more than just a place to stay: “Today, tourists want experiences, and families want to share them together.” In that sense, he described Royal Caribbean as a brand designed around family fun and entertainment, with offerings designed to create shared memories across generations.

THE TALLEST TOBOGGAN TOWER IN NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA.

The destination, spanning more than 80 hectares on Mexico’s Caribbean coast in Mahahual, will open in fall 2027. Inspired by the success of Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas, which opened in 2019, this new park in Mexico will also combine thrills and relaxation.

Perfect Day Mexico will feature seven themed neighborhoods, including experiences like Loco Waterpark, with more than 30 waterslides across five towers, including the tallest waterslide tower in North and South America, Jaguar’s Peak, at over 30 meters tall.

The center will feature the world’s longest waterslide, the world’s longest river float, lasting nearly an hour, and the world’s first sombrero slide, inspired by the iconic Mexican sombrero. There will also be adventure pools, a wave pool, and slides for toddlers.

The large complex will include a massive infinity pool measuring over 9,000 square meters and Royal Caribbean’s largest Splashaway Bay for toddlers.

The Hideaway will be an adults-only area with a beach-entry pool, swim-up bar, DJ, and cabanas, and the Costa Beach Club area will offer white-sand beaches, a heated infinity pool, and premium restaurants for an exclusive experience.

To relax, enjoy the Chill Beach North and South areas with over 3 kilometers of white-sand beaches, and to liven things up, Fiesta Plaza offers music, dancing, and the Tipsy Sombrero bar, home to the world’s largest sombrero.

The destination will feature 12 regionally inspired dining options, most of which are included, and 24 bars, including six swim-up bars. Mexican culture will be present with mariachi performances, art installations, and local artisans.

‘Perfect Day Mexico’ will be accessible to guests on Western Caribbean itineraries sailing from Galveston, New Orleans, and all Florida homeports. Itineraries will be available to book this fall.

NEW EXCLUSIVE DESTINATIONS.

The private destination strategy will expand in the coming years with the opening of the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas, in December 2025, and the Royal Beach Club Cozumel in 2026, both offering beach, culinary, and cultural and adventure activities.

In 2027, a unique destination will also open on the island of Lelepa, Vanuatu, in the South Pacific. This will be Royal Caribbean’s first in the Southern Hemisphere and offer an experience deeply connected to the region’s local culture and nature.

These new destinations join Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas and Labadee in Haiti, strengthening Royal Caribbean’s offering of vacation experiences around the world.

The expansion on land is complemented by the renewal of its maritime fleet. Following the launch of Icon of the Seas—the world’s largest cruise ship—in 2024, the company will add Star of the Seas in July 2025, followed by Legend of the Seas in 2026. Both will be part of the revolutionary Icon Class, focused on multigenerational vacations with a wide range of attractions and experiences onboard.

With more than 7 million passengers annually, 28 ships in operation, and four more under construction, Royal Caribbean is committed to a model of sustained growth, tourism innovation, and destination diversification.

Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty highlighted the group’s strength at a key moment of global expansion. “We have the most innovative and leading fleet in the world. Our business is very solid and has proven resilient to environmental challenges,” he stated.

Liberty also emphasized that the company maintains a clear roadmap for the coming years: “Between now and 2028, we have a steady stream of investment and growth, allowing us to continue developing unique vacation experiences both at sea and on land.”
