Luis Alberto Espinosa Orozco, president of the Tourism Promotion Council, announced that municipal authorities will launch a promotional campaign for Guanajuato, the capital of California, United States, due to the large number of Mexicans living in that state.

He noted that there are currently facilities and direct flights from California to Guanajuato, making it a niche for attracting tourists and helping to recover the number of visitors that has declined in the last two years.

He said that during the last working trip to the United States by state and municipal authorities, members of the Consulate were contacted to present the tourism promotion campaign.

Espinosa Orozco noted that this campaign is also aimed at attracting tourists to San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo, and municipalities such as Salvatierra.

However, he said that efforts are underway to reverse the downward trend in tourism this year.

Finally, he said they intend to extend the outreach campaign to other American states to attract Latino tourists residing in the United States.
