With the goal of strengthening domestic tourism in the country and boosting consumption during low-demand tourist seasons, the national strategy “The Great Getaway” was presented in Mazatlán. It will take place from May 30th to June 1st, offering exclusive promotions and discounts.
With one of its main objectives being to reactivate the economy in the tourism sector, this program is inspired by the “Buen Fin” model, generating special offers for visitors, stated Sinaloa’s Secretary of Tourism, Mireya Sosa Osuna.
“It’s basically the “Buen Fin,” but focused on tourism experiences, involving the entire tourism sector, with the goal of boosting economic recovery in the tourism sector, promoting travel within the country, and facilitating access to new experiences,” commented Sosa Osuna.
The official emphasized that “The Great Getaway” seeks to generate higher hotel occupancy, as well as an increase in demand for air and ground transportation, thus creating a greater flow of tourists to the country.
The initiative is being promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur), with the aim of incentivizing the local tourism sector.
During the three days of the initiative, those interested will be able to access promotions and discounts on a wide range of tourism services.
These include hotel and other accommodation options, land, sea, rail, and air transportation, restaurants and gastronomic experiences, guided tours and cultural activities, as well as adventure and retreat tourism.
Sosa Osuna emphasized that this initiative seeks to support micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, in addition to encouraging the discovery and enjoyment of various national destinations, promoting sustainable practices, and generating a positive impact on the economy and the environment.

An opportunity to grow
During the presentation of “The Great Escape,” the president of Canaco, Francisca Cázares Olivares, and the president of Canirac in Sinaloa, Érick Mandujano Caro, invited service providers from the port and the rest of the state to join this project and thus promote tourism in the state.
For this reason, Cázares Olivares noted that although Mazatlán is experiencing a slight tourism recession, this initiative contributes to and supports not only the tourism sector but also all those who can join.
“This is a proposal that strengthens tourism, and we already have 14 years of experience working with Buen Fin. This time, we want to be one of those who set that precedent because Mazatlán needs to be in the eyes of the world. We need to work to make tourism promotion better for everyone,” said Cázares Olivares.
In this way, this strategy seeks to align a vision of tourism through job creation and economic benefits for local businesses and restaurants.
