Tamaulipas among the five states with the most dengue cases in Mexico

Tamaulipas remains in fifth place nationwide for the highest incidence of dengue cases, recording a total of 283 infections during week 24 of this year.

State epidemiologist Sergio Uriegas Camargo explained that the rainy season becomes a risk factor for the spread of the transmitting mosquito, due to the accumulation of water that favors reproduction.

Therefore, he urged the population to intensify preventive measures and promptly report any potential cases. “We are working on early detection and prevention of cases at the beginning of the rainy season, since cases may increase during the current season,” he said.

States with the most dengue cases in the country
According to the federal report, a total of 1,781 non-severe dengue cases, 1,921 with warning signs, 155 severe cases, and 18 deaths have been reported in the country as of this week.

The states with the highest incidence are:

Jalisco, 706 infections (342 non-serious, 341 with warning signs, and 23 serious)

Veracruz, 602 cases

Michoacán, 311 cases

Guerrero, 305 cases

Tamaulipas, 283 cases

Monitoring of other diseases such as measles continues
Uriegas Camargo explained that the epidemiological outlook also includes the presence of measles, with 12 confirmed cases, all located in Mennonite communities. He indicated that immediate action was taken with vaccination and epidemiological surveillance, achieving a positive response from this population group.

He also noted that after the first heat wave, 40 patients have been treated for conditions related to high temperatures: 15 for heat stroke, 17 for heatstroke, and the rest for dehydration, reinforcing the need to strengthen preventive medical care during the hot season.

Regarding dengue, Uriegas emphasized that although it is a common disease in tropical areas, it can lead to serious complications or even be fatal if not treated properly. Therefore, it is essential to eliminate breeding sites, use repellent, and seek medical attention at the first symptoms.
