During the ceremony, Joaquín Díaz Mena, governor of the state, emphasized that these works will benefit the mobility of more than 29,000 residents of southern Yucatán.
The governor explained that the roadworks consist of the complete reconstruction of 14.6 kilometers, the installation of horizontal and vertical signage, reflective road markings, and other road safety features.
For many years, this road was a symbol of neglect. Today, it will be a symbol of transformation; this project represents dignity for more than 29,000 residents of the southern region,” he stated.
In this regard, the mayor of Oxkutzcab, Juan José Martín Fragoso, emphasized that the work on the Emiliano Zapata-Xul Highway will reconnect communities with access to healthcare, education, and commerce.
