The participation of the Chiapas delegation in the IBTM Americas congress was positive, according to Segundo Guillén Gordillo, the Executive General Coordinator of the Ministry of Tourism, who also highlighted the results obtained at the event.

This congress is considered one of the most important for the meetings industry in Mexico and Latin America, and Chiapas returned to participate after its absence from the last edition.

In a press conference, Guillén Gordillo explained that the strategy to reposition the state is focused on nature tourism, but also on hosting important events, such as congresses for the country’s various productive sectors.

He emphasized that at the event, Chiapas was ranked by the International Human Rights Observatory as one of the most important destinations for peace in the world, and among the five safest states in the country.

“Today, all those dedicated to this field can trust in a state that will welcome them, with an organized, professional sector with open arms,” the coordinator stated.

Unified Delegation

For his part, Víctor Bermúdez, director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, announced that Chiapas was attended by a unified delegation of more than 50 professionals from various destinations such as Palenque, Tapachula, San Cristóbal, and Comitán.

He reported that the business meeting goal was exceeded, with 95 meetings held, 30 more than the 65 initially scheduled. Additionally, approximately 600 potential clients interested in Chiapas as a destination were recruited.

The participation was supported by the private sector and aimed to promote the state’s capabilities to host medical and other productive sector conferences, generate economic benefits, and facilitate professional development and knowledge for the state’s residents.
