Colima is preparing to become a national benchmark in the defense of pollinators by organizing the workshop “Chain of Custody in Cases of Mass Bee Deaths,” which will bring together federal, state, academic institutions, and producers.
The previous working meeting was attended by the State Attorney General, Bryant Alejandro García; representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat); the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (Conanp); the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change (INECC); the National Laboratory of Socio-Environmental Toxicology of CONAHCyT; and the National Organization of Beekeepers and Beekeepers of Colima.
Local representative Alfredo Álvarez Ramírez, the driving force behind the initiative, highlighted the importance of this inter-institutional effort: “With this workshop, we are building environmental justice protocols with scientific rigor. Protecting pollinators means protecting life, food sovereignty, and the future of the Mexican countryside.”
The meeting, supported by the Government of the State of Colima and the Attorney General’s Office, seeks to establish legal and technical mechanisms to effectively address cases of mass bee deaths and ensure the preservation of ecosystems.
The workshop will take place next Saturday, September 20th, at 9:00 a.m., in the auditorium of the Faculty of Biological and Agricultural Sciences of the University of Colima, Tecomán Campus. The activity is aimed at authorities, producers, and interested citizens.
