The Undersecretariat of Tourism (Subsectur), the Manzanillo City Council, and the Manzanillo Fishing Club presented the 72nd edition of the Manzanillo 2025 International Sport Fishing Tournament at a press conference. The tournament will take place from November 27 to 29, as part of the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the most important commercial port in Mexico.
According to a press release, the presentation was led by the head of Subsectur, Jorge Padilla Castillo; the municipal director of Tourism, Mayreni Ortega Monroy; and the president of the Manzanillo Fishing Club, Kenyi Adachi García. They emphasized that in addition to the sporting competition, Plaza Juárez will host a grand popular festival with live music, a food court, product sales, and family activities, reinforcing Manzanillo’s tourism and cultural vocation.
This edition offers a prize pool of over 800,000 pesos in marlin, dorado, tuna, and pollock (jackpot) categories; they highlight the historical importance of the tournament, recognized as one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country, with more than seven decades of tradition in the Sailfish Capital of the World.
Registration will cost 15,000 pesos per team until October 15, and 17,500 pesos starting October 16. Prizes will be distributed among the different fishing categories, with financial incentives for the best marlin, dorado, and tuna, in addition to the attractive jackpot.
Jorge Padilla emphasized that the state administration headed by Governor Indira Vizcaíno Silva reaffirms its support for sports tourism, particularly events like this one, which in past decades brought prestige to Manzanillo and which for years has contributed to the economic development and tourism projection of the state nationally and internationally. He invited sport fishing enthusiasts to participate in this great event.
