Last night, Luis Ernesto Munguía, mayor of Puerto Vallarta, confirmed the opening of the Las Juntas Overpass, one of the strategic projects of the Jalisco government, as it will be key for travel between Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas, connecting Jalisco with Nayarit.

The vehicle crossing opened at 11:00 p.m. last Tuesday, September 30th, at the intersection of Federal Highway 200 and State Highway 544 (Mascota-Las Palmas). The project took seven months to complete by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP).

The overpass is expected to expedite traffic, with traffic increasing to 35,000 vehicles per day. In addition, the road connects with access points to San Sebastián del Oeste, Mascota, Talpa, and the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) CUCosta.

It is worth noting that the opening of the Las Juntas Overpass to traffic is the first stage of a project that will now continue with the paving of side lanes, construction of sidewalks, signage, level crossing signalization, and a new pedestrian bridge, according to information provided by Pablo Lemus, Governor of Jalisco, via social media.

The Las Juntas Interchange had an investment of 374 million pesos, as part of the 2025-2026 Road Infrastructure Connection Plan, which includes more than 2.2 billion pesos. The project involved the participation of all three levels of government, as well as the private sector.
