During the meeting of the Coordinating Committee for Peacebuilding, Alfredo Almora García, Director General of Assistance to Victims of Kidnapping and Extortion of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), presented the National Strategy against Extortion promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
In front of Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, who chaired the security meeting this morning at the C-3 facilities in this capital, the SSPC official announced that the National Strategy against Extortion is based on five pillars:
Creation of local Anti-Extortion Units, arrests through investigation and intelligence, training of 089 operators in crisis management, implementation of victim assistance protocols, and national prevention campaigns.
At the meeting, the state leader expressed his full support for the strategy and urged the members of the committee to strengthen actions aimed at reducing crime, particularly extortion, whose impact harms the economy of citizens, as well as businesses and small businesses.
O89 Call Center Operators
The SSPC has trained 873 call center operators on extortion methods, crisis management, and negotiation, with the participation of a team of Tamaulipas call center operators.
In addition, the 088 Citizen Service Center will standardize the handling of extortion reports with the 089 call center. In parallel, Tamaulipas participated in meetings with representatives of Anti-Kidnapping Units, the National Information Center, and state C5s (Civil Service Centers) to unify criteria for opening investigation files. The SSPC identifies various extortion scenarios, including police carjackings and more.
