If the confrontation between the Yucatán Public Security Secretariat and federal forces was already bad, due to suspicions of leaking information and protecting criminals, it is now worse.
The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) opened an administrative case against the Yucatán Public Security Secretariat due to the alleged intention to conceal information about alleged federal criminal acts occurring in the municipality of Seyé.
The state agency attempted to downplay what was happening on a property in the Felipe Carrillo Puerto neighborhood of that municipality, where residents reported gunshots coming from a shooting range.
The state agency conducted a physical inspection of the site and reported that it was not a shooting range. However, the Federal Police investigated, given that there are open investigations in that municipality for the confiscation of fuel from fuel theft.
They gathered evidence and were able to establish that alleged criminal activities had taken place on the property, so they requested a search warrant from a District Judge. This was like a bucket of cold water for the state corporation, as its protection theater collapsed. The Army, the National Guard, the Navy, and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), with support from the SSP, raided the site, where they seized weapons, drugs, and luxury cars, according to federal authorities.
This made it clear that the SSP had maliciously withheld information.
Sol Yucatán was able to investigate that the site was used by organized crime cells as a training camp.
Therefore, the situation is serious: the State Police maliciously withheld information to protect criminal groups.
If the Federal Government had suspicions of information leaks and protection of criminal groups, it is now more than evident.
