The Mexican Navy (Semar) deployed 1,000 personnel to bolster security in the municipalities of Colima, Villa de Álvarez, Cuauhtémoc, and Manzanillo, within the state of Colima.
The Navy stated that, within the framework of the “Colima Seguro” Security Strategy, whose purpose is to reduce violence rates in the state and strengthen public trust, naval personnel will conduct patrols and maintain a deterrent presence in various areas of these municipalities. The goal is to create an environment of peace and trust that encourages citizens to report crimes, which, the Navy stated, will always be supported and promptly addressed by the institution.
The Navy also added that personnel will carry out community outreach efforts to reclaim public spaces and engage with the population, promoting medical services and disseminating health-related information in marginalized areas.
He highlighted that among the first tasks they are undertaking is the deployment of naval personnel to support security at the “All Saints’ Fair 2025,” which is being held in the municipality of Colima.
In that context, he indicated that 612 Marines are currently deployed, with the remaining personnel still needed to reach the full complement of 1,000, in support of security operations in the state of Colima.
