Today, after more than 20 years, the state of Zacatecas is experiencing one of its most peaceful periods, a result of the coordinated work of security and justice institutions, stated Governor David Monreal Ávila at the Flag Raising Ceremony held this Monday at the facilities of the Eleventh Military Zone.
There, the governor acknowledged the work of the State Peacebuilding Roundtable, comprised of the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the Public Security Secretariat, the State and Federal Attorney General’s Offices, as well as other justice agencies, which has led to Zacatecas becoming one of the safest states in the country.
He emphasized that this institutional framework has made it possible to address the root causes of violence, strengthen the rule of law, and restore peace of mind to Zacatecas families, which has earned the recognition of Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo on the issue of security.
Governor David Monreal emphasized the unwavering respect for human rights demonstrated by security forces, which, he said, has been fundamental for healthy social coexistence and the development of the state. He stated that society has the right to live in peace and that the Mexican State is obligated to guarantee it.
He highlighted the progress made in pacifying the state and mentioned that Zacatecas has registered a historic decrease in high-impact crimes. So far in November, he explained, two homicides have been recorded, following almost 15 days with only one case, and he emphasized that more than half the year has seen days without such incidents.
In this regard, Governor David Monreal asserted that this is the lowest figure since formal records began, representing a reduction of nearly 70 percent compared to previous years.
“Today, Zacatecas is experiencing a tranquility it hasn’t seen in over two decades. We are doing very well, and it’s something to celebrate,” the governor stated, thanking and acknowledging the commitment of the Security Forces and calling for continued unity and respect for the law.
During the ceremony, which included the singing of the National Anthem and the raising of the flag, and looking ahead to a successful end to the Year of Well-being 2025, Governor David Monreal reiterated his call to persevere on the path to peace and to continue working together for the tranquility, happiness, and development of Zacatecas.
Also participating on the dais were General Isaac Bravo López, commander of the Eleventh Military Zone; General Vicente Dimayuga Canales, state coordinator of the National Guard; the Secretary General of the Government, Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza; and General Arturo Medina Mayoral, head of the Secretariat of Public Security.
Also present were the State Attorney General, Cristian Paul Camacho Osnaya; Francisco Javier Esquivel Cruz, delegate of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic; Adilene Rosales Romero, delegate of Programs for Development; Osvaldo Cerrillo Garza, technical secretary of the State Roundtable for Peace and Security Construction; and Juan Gabriel Sosa Pinto, head of the National Intelligence Center, among other authorities.
